There are hotels in Goa ranging from budget backpacker hostels, to luxurious resorts and Portuguese mansions.

It really is the perfect place for everyone. Whether you’re travelling alone, as a family, young couple, or even on Honeymoon! You shouldn’t find it too difficult to pick the right place for you.

So, choose something that fits your budget!

Hotels in Goa – North or South?

Goa is divided into North and South Goa. Depending on your budget and the type of holiday you’re looking for, this will reflect which area of Goa is best for you.

For example, those with a bigger budget head to South Goa for luxurious resorts.

These prestige resorts tend to stretch from Arrosim to Cavelossim, as this is where you’ll find the almost empty beaches.

It’s Not All About the South

Palolem beach in North Goa is slightly more affordable, and known to many as the most beautiful beach in Goa. Palolem is known for its calm crystal-clear waters and colourful beach huts, and delicious fresh sea food restaurants dot the shore.

But don’t worry, there are some budget options too!

Most budget travellers tend to head to Patem and Agonda beach. These beaches are still quiet and very beautiful. However, they’re definitely more affordable, so you can spend your spare cash on some of the fantastic activities Goa has to offer. Or even submerging yourself in delicious Goan delicacies.

The Best Places to Stay in Goa for Every Budget

  • Basic/ Budget Accommodation

Most of the budget hotels can be found in North Goa, on Vagator, Baga, Calangute, Candolim and Sinquerim beaches.

Here, budget hotels and hostels can be found at under INR 2000 (around £22/$28). I’ve listed a couple of options below.

Jungle by the Hostel Crowd– Dorms from just INR 500 a night and privates from INR 1100. This place has a cosy common area and huge garden surrounded by coconut trees to hang out in. Yoga classes are available so you can really unwind. Plus, it’s not far from Vagator beach! They also run a shuttle to their partnering hostels in North Goa twice a week.

Budget Hotels

Sonikas Leisure – Rooms from 1625 INR a night. This hotel is only 550 yards away from Candolim beach but also has an outdoor pool and garden for you to relax in.

Beyond Nomad – This renovated Portuguese house has private rooms from just INR 1700 and single beds in a dorm for just INR 600. A buffet breakfast is included in the price. The hotel is situated less than a mile away from Anjuna Beach and the Anjuna Flea market, where you can buy handcrafted presents to take home for the family. This hotel is rated very highly for cleanliness and friendly staff so is a perfect option for backpackers that want to stay in slightly more luxurious, but still affordable accommodation. This is a great option for young couples as well as the private bedrooms are great value for money.

  • Mid-Range Accommodation

Mid-range hotels can be found at around INR 2000-7000 (around £22/$28 – £77/$99).

Again, there are some nice mid-range hotels in North Goa on the beaches listed above. However, there are also beautiful resorts to stay in in South Goa too, such as near Bogmalo beach and Palolem.

Lower-Mid-Range

Hacienda De Goa Resort – This elegant property has rooms from just INR 4000 a night for a private room. The hotel combines beautiful Portuguese architecture with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool or spend the day at Vagator Beach, just 1.6 miles away from the property. The hotel restaurant offers international and Indian cuisine and room service is also available.

Upper-Mid-Range

Palolem Inn – You can get a superior deluxe room with a balcony for just INR 6000 a night. This hotel is right next to Palolem beach and has an outdoor pool as well.

Marron Sea View Resort – Rooms start from just INR 5866 and this beautiful resort is situated right on the sandy beach at Palolem. It is one of the best rated resorts in Palolem but also isn’t far from Agonda and Cola beaches either which are also some of the nicer beaches in South Goa.

  • Luxury Accommodation

Luxury hotels can be found from INR 7000+ (£79/$100) a night.

Arguably the most luxurious hotels in India are the Taj Hotels, and Goa certainly isn’t short of these magnificent resorts.

There are also more affordable options for luxury resorts however.

Taj Fort Aguada Resort and Spa– Rooms starting at INR 21,000, this is a favourite amongst luxury travellers. This 5-star resort spreads on the private sea front along the Sinquerim to Calangute beach stretch. The hotel offers a fitness centre and spa, as well as a beautiful outdoor pool which guests can lounge around and enjoy the hotel restaurants. A children’s activity centre is also available for families so parents can enjoy some alone time whilst the children enjoy various fun activities.

Affordable Luxury

Ibis Styles Calangute – Rooms start at INR 7800, and all rooms have a pool view with balcony. A free buffet breakfast is included in the price as well as free services such as use of the hotel GoPro cameras and jeep transfers to local beaches. This is the perfect option for families, as children can enjoy separate kids pool and play areas, whilst the adults relax around the main pool. On selected nights, live music also plays and often traditional Goan cuisine is served separately to the daily buffet. A great thing about this hotel is that Accor Hotels club members can use points to pay for their stay, as well as collect points throughout their trip!

Kenilworth Beach Resort & Spa– Rooms starting at INR 8500. The suite rooms in this hotel have living rooms and sea/pool views. Also, the resort has a 24-hour coffee shop, beach front restaurant, swim-up café at the outdoor pool and spa/exercise room, with beach access to Utorda and Majorda beaches.

Something for Everyone

You won’t find it too hard to find accommodation to suit your needs in Goa. You can find budget hostels from as cheap as around INR 500 if you don’t mind slumming it a bit.

But as you can see there are plenty of affordable mid-range options too.

In terms of luxury options, Taj Resorts are always the best option if you have the budget for it. Although The Leela, and Park Hyatt Resort and Spa are also luxurious options.
